watering corn

the past two years we have had the opportunity to rent some farm ground.
it's been a huge blessing and an added income!
we are SO thankful for God's provision and timing
(as the opportunity came at the same time we decided i would stay home with the boys)!

it's also gives scott the chance to play farmer.
our friends (the isaacsons) farm the ground for us and scott helps out as much as he can.

he's been keeping long hours this summer as we haven't had much rain.
he usually wakes up around 4:45 and heads north (it's about a 45-50 minute drive to the field).
he changes water and then heads to his "real" job (which is another 50 minute drive east).
he works all day and then heads back to the fields to change water again.

there are days when he's a little tired but for the most part... he LOVES it!
he enjoys being outside and the scenery is beautiful!
if you have to watch the sunrise, it might as well be pretty, right?!?

we REALLY are thankful for such a hardworking daddy and
for friends who take such good care of the corn!

jace has been irrigating a couple of times with scott and this saturday
he asked if we ALL wanted to go.  so we hopped in the jeep and headed north.

another guy i know who likes to "play" farmer

thrilled to have a "photographer" along for the trip!

what a cutie, and his older brother too!
(totally kidding, i think they're both adorable!)

this is the well, pump, shaft, spinny-thing-a-mabobber that
scott fixed all.by.himself this past week.  this might not seem
like a huge deal to most farmers...
but to this "town kid" it's an accomplishment. ;)

i think scott told me 3 or 4 times to look at the corn.
"it looks SO good" he kept saying.
thanks for your hard work jon!

i have no idea what he was saying...
but he's turning into such a little man!

that morning jace told me that i needed to stay home.
it was just a boys' trip.  NO girls allowed.

this is what scott uses to maneuver the dirt roads.
we had this thing DETAILED and ready to sell at the beginning of the summer.
i think we're keeping it... and it's.a.muddy.mess
