Keeping the Faith

It is hard to believe that it has been an entire year since my Grandma went home to be with the Lord! It's been an incredibly emotional year for our entire family (to say the least).

We all miss Grandma dearly and wish so much to listen to another story, ask for another piece of advice, or open another letter.

Over the past year I have heard countless times that "my loved one" is looking down on me. I have thought about this comment and can't help but think... "my Grandma is not looking down on me, she is dancing at the feet of Jesus and worshiping our Almighty Savior!" She is not focused on what she is missing here on Earth. Even in her last moments on Earth she was focusing on Heaven. She wasn't concerned with tomorrow, with Earthly things, or even about the loved ones she was leaving behind. When she was told that the flowers outside her window were beautiful... she simply stated, "I think the flowers in heaven will be even more beautiful."

Colossians 3 tells us to, "set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." All too often I am focused only on the "here and now", only on acquiring Earthly possessions and keeping up with society's "ideals" for my life. Colossians goes on to tell us that because we are Christians, our new and real life is now hidden with Christ and we will live with Him in Glory one day. When you put it that way... how can we be focused on anything BUT Heaven!

I watched my Grandma live out her faith. I pray that my focus will be on Christ and on Heavenly things, on developing Godly characteristics as a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. I pray that because of Christ, her legacy will live on through her family and that our focus will be on the things of Christ and of Heaven... not of this world.

Even though she is greatly missed...
we KNOW that she is spending ETERNITY worshiping and praising the King of Glory!

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Puttin' Up Corn

Click here to view these pictures larger

It is becoming a tradition to spend one Saturday in the Summer putting up sweet corn with our family. We had a blast husking, washing, boiling, cutting and bagging over 1,000 years of sweet corn. When it was all said and done we ended up with 215 bags of corn! It was A LOT of work but will definitely be worth it when we are enjoying yummy sweet corn this winter. Even the little ones got in on the action! Hope you enjoy the picts!

Obstacle Course... take 2!

Seriously... I moved the chairs and end tables... and he STILL found a way!

For Sale!

Well, it's official! We are MOVING!!!
Well... not quite yet... after a lot of careful consideration and many prayers, Scott and I have decided to put our house up for sale. It has definitely been a "bitter-sweet" process (a lot of emotions go into getting your house ready for new owners). We are anxiously waiting a "reasonable" offer and can't wait to head to the country.
We will be moving into a smaller house on my Grandparent's property for the time being. Our plan is to "get out of debt with gazelle intensity" (any Dave Ramsey followers will appreciate that) and build a house in the next year. We will keep you updated on our progress!

Out on the Boat

Dad and Jace... ready for our first boat ride!

Jace and "N" weren't quite sure what to think about
the adventure they were about to embark on...

Asleep... only minutes into the boat ride... sound asleep!
Guess it wasn't so bad after all!

time for discipline?!?

Since he has "mastered" walking... Jace has decided to take up climbing!
He climbs on EVERYTHING!
Toys, chairs, boxes, stairs, you name it... he climbs on it!

However, the last couple of days he has decided to incorporate an obstacle course into his climbing routine... see below!

the approach...

and he's OK!

I think he completed the course 3 times before I got my camera...
time to put my foot down?
Maybe after a few picts!

Quick Photo Shoot

We had to get in a few photos... still having some trouble with Mr. Jace looking at the camera. Maybe that's a sign it's time to set the camera down for a bit!

Family, Fun, and the Fourth

I started to write Jace's first Fourth of July... then realized, it's NOT his first 4th!!! Yikes... what a difference a year makes.

We were able to spend A LOT of time with A LOT of family this 4th. My cousins from Ohio, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, and Kansas all made the trip out to celebrate the holiday.

Our week consisted of socializing, eating, working, running/walking (2nd Annual Betty R. Isaacson Fun Run), a family picnic at the lake, some laughing and a little crying.

Here are a few random pictures from our busy week. We hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend celebrating our country's independence!
New hat for the festivities.
Plenty of dirt to go around!
A ride on the infamous 3-wheeler.
A few of Grandma's flowers... we miss her so much!
Time for a quick snooze.

Ready for our 3 mile walk!
We even had t-shirts for the walk this year!

A Visit from Friends

My roommate from college and her little one came for a visit a couple of weekends ago. Jace and I were excited to spend a Saturday catching up with them. It was so fun watching our little boys play and even more enjoyable catching up with one another! We look forward to many more play dates with our little men!

Jace and C taking a little time out for a pic.

Their bday gift to Jace was this super cute lawn mower (and it makes bubbles!).
They each had one to play with for the afternoon...
if they only mowed the lawn for real... then we'd be in business!

We have got to work on Jacer looking at the camera... he is boycotting it!
Any suggestions???

Thanks so much for coming! We love you guys!
*More picts to come....
we are meeting another little friend this weekend...
three boys... lots of trouble!
